School Visitation Policy
All Visitors
All visitors must sign in at the office. After signing in, stating whom they wish to visit, the purpose of their visit, and showing proof of identity a visitor’s pass will be issued. They will be asked to wear the visitors pass while they are in the building and return the pass and sign out when they leave.
Office staff will verify appointments. Circumstances may warrant someone walking visitors to their destination. Visits are for observational purposes only unless previous arrangements have been made. Visitors should not address a student without teacher permission. Visitors are expected to follow all school policies and procedures while on school property. Visitors should follow all rules designated by teachers while in the classroom. During visits, neither staff nor students may be recorded. All campus doors will be locked throughout the day.
Parents and Prospective Parents
Las Puertas Community School welcomes visits, tours and observations of all classrooms by parents of enrolled students and parents who wish to enroll their child(ren) in the school. Parents are encouraged to visit their child’s classroom and to take an active part in his or her education. Parents are asked to make prior arrangements if they plan to visit in the classroom. For reasons of safety and keeping track of campus visitors, parents must report to the office before going to a child’s class and a visitor’s pass will be issued that should be worn during the visit.
When possible, when visiting a classroom, parents are asked to leave small children at home since young children can be distracting. Parents are asked to avoid conversations with the teachers during such visits, to ensure that class can be conducted as scheduled.
